The 18th GFSC 2026 Cold Chain Conference was held in Dalian from June 9 to 11. The event gathered enterprises and experts across the entire cold chain industrial chain to explore new pathways for high-quality development. Sun Yu, CTO of Great Wall Commercial Vehicles, attended the conference. He shared the company’s tailored solutions for cold chain transportation against prevailing industry pain points and green transformation trends, demonstrating the brand’s technological strengths and social responsibility in this sector.

Cold chain logistics is a critical link for the transportation of daily necessities such as fresh produce and pharmaceuticals. Temperature control accuracy, operational efficiency and cost management directly affect supply chain security and product quality. While domestic demand for cold chain transport keeps rising, the industry still faces multiple challenges. The long-haul cold chain market sees fierce competition. Excessive fuel consumption places heavy cost burdens on operators. Meanwhile, stringent requirements for timeliness and reliability, together with high energy use of trailer refrigeration units and high risks of cargo damage, have long plagued the sector.

To address these challenges, Great Wall Commercial Vehicles has stepped into the cold chain segment and launched the G1050 hybrid heavy-duty truck specially built for cold chain transport, powered by self-developed core technologies. According to Sun Yu, the model is equipped with cold-chain-dedicated external power supply technology and DC external power ports ranging from 7kW to 24kW. While the truck is running, the system can supply auxiliary power to the trailer refrigeration unit. It also serves as an emergency power source in case of refrigeration unit breakdown, preventing temperature deviation and consequent cargo loss, so as to fully safeguard cold chain shipments.
In terms of power performance and energy efficiency, the truck is fitted with Great Wall’s in-house developed Hi4-G super intelligent hybrid system. Adopting a P2+P2.5 dual-motor hybrid architecture and paired with a Cummins 13L hybrid-specific engine, it delivers power output from three power sources and supports adaptive switching among ten intelligent operating modes, fully catering to diverse cold chain transport scenarios. The vehicle boasts a combined maximum power of 1,050 hp and peak torque of 4,500 N·m, easily coping with high-intensity operations including long-distance trunk haulage and complicated road conditions.

The hybrid heavy-duty trucks have already been delivered in batches to leading logistics enterprises. Its power battery is co-developed by Great Wall Commercial Vehicles and Chongqing Yunchen, featuring high discharge rate, long service life, wide operating temperature range and intelligent management. The deep integration of the hybrid architecture and customized batteries achieves an overall fuel saving rate of 15% to 25% on complex roads, striking an optimal balance between powerful performance and low energy consumption.
For superior reliability, the truck has undergone road tests totaling over 10 million kilometers. Key components achieve a B10 service life of more than 1.8 million kilometers. The engine maintenance interval reaches 150,000 kilometers, and wheel ends are maintenance-free for up to 500,000 kilometers. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a full suite of active safety systems, a spacious and comfortable cab and factory-installed integrated driving and parking air conditioner. Supported by the intelligent connected platform, it realizes digital management throughout the whole transport process, comprehensively enhancing the safety, comfort and intelligence of cold chain operations.

The debut at the Dalian Cold Chain Conference showcases Great Wall Commercial Vehicles’ leading hybrid technology in the cold chain niche market. Going forward, the company will continue to focus on the demands of cold chain logistics, uphold technological innovation, and empower the industry’s low-carbon transition and high-quality development with premium products.
