An All-Star Lineup at IAA: Foton Motor Enters a New Phase of Deep, Structured Global Expansion

Next week, on September 14, IAA Transportation 2026 — the world’s largest commercial vehicle exhibition — opens in Hannover, Germany.

Foton Motor, which has ranked No. 1 in China’s commercial vehicle sales for 21 consecutive years, will exhibit on its largest scale ever.

What exactly is on Foton’s booth? And what signals is the company sending?

An all-star lineup aimed at the global market

More than 460 Chinese companies are exhibiting at this IAA — whole-vehicle makers and parts suppliers alike, ranging from established industry leaders to eye-catching new entrants.

According to FangDe, Foton’s largest-ever IAA lineup comprises seven new energy whole vehicles plus six self-developed core component products.

The Auman Galaxy 9 has already completed real-world testing in Spain, and the Cavan Lefu has been launched overseas. The remaining exhibits — the Cavan BEACON heavy truck available in both hydrogen and battery-electric versions, the Auman EHL sweeper medium-duty truck, the Qimingxing-platform light truck, the Mars pickup and the Auvbus coach — are all making their first public appearance outside China.

On the component side, the lineup includes traction battery packs, e-axles and motor controllers for heavy-duty applications; an e-axle for light-duty vehicles; a low-voltage vehicle control unit; and a megawatt-class charging pile.

During this IAA, Foton Motor will also hold the ceremony for its 13 millionth global unit delivery and the global launch of the BEACON product line, while unveiling its Europe strategy at the same time.

From coverage to deep penetration

FangDe analysis holds that, having ranked No. 1 in China’s commercial vehicle exports for 15 consecutive years, Foton has long since completed the tactical spread of its overseas coverage and is now taking the lead in entering a new phase of deep, structural advancement. The “Foton Solution” (EASY MOVE) shown at this IAA is clearly aimed not only at Europe but represents the new energy and intelligent trends of the commercial vehicle industry, pointing to global leadership.

In the first phase of going overseas, Foton successfully led the industry in “going out” and “going deep” with a product-plus-service approach.

Having made internationalization a core strategy back in 2004, Foton has built its overseas presence step by step. Its products and services now cover more than 140 countries and regions, with 32 localized plants worldwide. In 2025 it exported 165,000 units across its full lineup; in the first eight months of 2026 exports reached 149,000 units, up 44.3% year on year.

As exports enter the next phase, new challenges must be addressed: diversified market demand, brand reinforcement and upgrading along the value chain.

That is precisely the answer Foton presents at this IAA: the 13 millionth global delivery proves mature validation in world markets; the Cavan BEACON leads new-energy and intelligent heavy trucks; and the full vehicle-plus-component lineup stands for a new-energy, full-scenario solution across the whole industrial chain.

According to FangDe, several of Foton’s battery-electric light trucks and VAN products have obtained EU WVTA whole-vehicle type approval, securing entry to Europe’s premium markets; its Cavan new-energy products are also gaining ground in 15 European countries as well as Australia and New Zealand, showcasing the green and intelligent product strength of Chinese commercial vehicles to the world.

The foundation is globally competitive product strength.

On the global stage of the Hannover show, Foton is undoubtedly the Chinese commercial vehicle maker with the broadest and most representative new-energy lineup, matching international brands both in breadth and depth.

The support is a fully built value-chain system.

From vehicle trade to a standardized, replicable overseas operating system, Foton has moved ahead in transforming its export model.

Deepening its integration into global markets, Foton has built localized plants in Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, plus 18 regional and national parts centers. Its global operating system spans product R&D, supply chain layout, quality control, after-sales service, financing support and the aftermarket ecosystem, forming an integrated “reserve-deploy-service” capability and a closed-loop “sales-maintenance-refueling” chain.

Addressing the specific pain points of new energy commercial vehicle operations, Foton builds on localized product adaptation to localize the whole chain of R&D and manufacturing, organization and team, and service and parts. Together with industry partners it is building an ecosystem covering battery-swap and microgrid charging, fleet management systems and full-lifecycle service.

In closing

Under Foton’s overseas “3040” strategy of systematic internationalization, the company targets 400,000 overseas annual sales and a 30% share of new-energy products by 2030, entering a new phase of coordinated overseas push across technology, brand, supply chain and service.

When it comes to scale exports, Foton is the undisputed industry leader; when it comes to value-based exports, Foton is also taking the lead toward the next stage.
