【Rugao, China】 — Recently, the first batch of fire truck special chassis produced at the Scania Rugao Industrial Production Base officially rolled off the production line and was delivered.

This marks the full realization of localized production and delivery for Scania special vehicle chassis in China, representing another key milestone in Scania’s localization journey. It also brings more efficient and reliable solutions to China’s special-purpose vehicle market.
Local R&D and Production Synergy Creates Significant Customer Value
With the commissioning of the Rugao base, Scania’s chassis delivery and service model has undergone a critical upgrade:
- Local collaboration for rapid response: Local R&D and production work in synergy to quickly align with end-user needs, carry out timely product adaptation adjustments, and accelerate the full chain of special vehicle projects from customized demand to manufacturing.
- Greatly shortened lead time: Chassis delivery lead time has been reduced from the previous 6–10 months to approximately 3 months, significantly speeding up the implementation of special vehicle projects.
- Continuous optimization of cost structure: Local production effectively reduces tariffs, international logistics and other costs. While maintaining Scania’s global high standards and premium quality, it provides users with highly competitive product options.
China-Focused Product Upgrades: Higher Efficiency, Greater Reliability
The chassis produced and delivered in Rugao comply with Scania’s unified global standards, ensuring consistent worldwide quality while featuring China-specific product enhancements.
1. All-New Super Powertrain for Enhanced Reliability and Efficiency
Special vehicle chassis manufactured at the Scania Rugao base are equipped with Scania’s latest Super powertrain, delivering comprehensive improvements in vehicle efficiency, uptime and reliability.

As Scania’s most efficient internal combustion powertrain to date, the Super system has been proven in global markets and maintains stable, high-performance operation even under demanding working conditions. Its three core components — engine, gearbox and rear axle — are all independently developed and manufactured by Scania, enabling highly coordinated operation and greatly improving compatibility between the chassis and special vehicle bodies across diverse applications.
2. New Generation E/E System Unlocks More Possibilities for Chinese Users
Alongside the Super powertrain, locally produced chassis also adopt Scania’s brand-new electronic and electrical architecture, significantly enhancing vehicle digitalization and intelligence. This allows better adaptation to Chinese users’ needs in digital management, functional expansion and intelligent operation.
Multi-Scene Chassis Platform to Drive Ongoing Industry Upgrading
Leveraging Scania’s manufacturing and R&D capabilities in China and the Group’s traditional modular advantages, Scania chassis are rapidly expanding into diverse application scenarios in China’s special vehicle market, including fire rescue, wrecking recovery, suction and sanitation, refrigerated transport, center-axle transportation and other specialized segments, providing complete chassis solutions.

Mr. David Källsäter, Managing Director of Scania Sales (China) Co., Ltd., stated:
“The rollout and delivery of the first fire truck chassis fulfill Scania’s firm commitment to deeply developing the Chinese market and serving Chinese customers. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive transport solutions for Chinese users and the market, including tractors, special chassis and power systems, while always upholding Scania’s unified global high standards.”
Going forward, Scania will continue to deepen its localization in China, work hand in hand with partners to drive the development of China’s special vehicle industry toward greater efficiency, reliability and sustainability.
